The Book is out now, thanks everybody!

by David Wong

Many of you are already reading it (looks like it was delivered to ebook devices at midnight last night) and many more of you will receive it today. If you haven’t ordered it yet, theoretically you should be able to go to any decent book store. If you have already read it, I can’t overstate the importance of leaving a review. But you’re obviously not obligated to, the fact that you gave me some of your money is already a pretty big deal.

Anyway, this has been the culmination of five years of on again, off again writing and editing, and one solid year of promotion. I don’t know what else to say. I’m very tired.

So, thanks everybody, hope you like it. I have a shitload of interviews to do.

If you haven’t already, you can order it here. I know this isn’t the type of book that makes the New York Times bestseller list, and I’m not sure I would want to live in a world where that sort of thing happened, but still, if you could buy it this week that’d be great. The Associated Press has reviewed it and seems to like it, if you needed some convincing.

Either way, I hope everyone is well and thanks for hanging around.

It showed up in the mail yesterday. Apparently I pre-ordered it the day it was available, and again several weeks/months later when I had forgotten that I already did. So now I have 2 copies.

I’m keeping both. Read it all the way through in one sitting. Reviewed it on Amazon. This book is amazing.

I do kind of miss some of the parts of “John and Dave and the Temple of X’al’naa”thuthuthu” that were cut, but I’ll get over it. I can see how this story as a whole was much stronger.

    Great job, Dave.

I pre-ordered my copy like a month ago and amazon.com has some sort of issue and my order still hasn’t shipped. They don’t know when it will. I think I might literally cry. :(

I know this isn’t your problem or your fault but I still had to cry on someone’s shoulder.

  3. CeeJay Says:

And they didn’t tell me this until just now.

Dear David Wong I know your real name J.P. and I have a confession to say, I had the misfortune of touching your book and I have still not changed my name. Still they are watching.
Well, I hope that you hear my story because you will not believe the thing that I have to say to you. So sit down, be comfortable, but be sure to close the door and shut the window well close. You really don’t want to be in the middle of the reading when “things” can sneak up on you in the relaxing environment of your home.
I just bought your book less than a week ago, and bear in mind, the city where I am living it is far far away from America, it is a spanish speaking country that is in old stinky Europe and I am actually not even spanish, and not even english speaking. Let’s say that I am from a country with the best food in the world on which you put a lot cheese on top, and hot spicy salami.
I am digressing. Well I was walking in this store were they handle the kind of bookstore on which there are plenty of books that New York Times bestseller list normally never made the top list. All filled with crazy books about vampires, zombies, intergalactic adventures and Narnia shit. You know, George R. R. Martin seems that when he travels to sell his books come always there.
And I was just fired from my job, got my goodbye money, and I was in the mood to spending in the most frivolous way to back my self-esteem on track. So I had to go to the very back of the bookstore where the english books are (and where there are no windows) to get a story that will nail my head in the pages and forget about everything else.

Well, that book, your book, was under a pile of many other books labelled with discount prices (still quite overpriced for spaniard standard, but hey! savings are savings), and I couldn’t notice that the title of your book spoiled completely the end of the story, make me think which kind of interesting writing nut case would ever do that.

It is in this very moment that I touched and opened your book.
And you very know what happen when someone touch your book and it has a choice, the ONLY choice can really made.

Like I said it was less than one week ago and I am there trapped in reading it, and reading it, in every pause of the day, walking around with my book in hand, during meals and just putting down before going to the toilette because you know, it will not be hygienic.

Anwyay… I was there reading the book like a soy souce can be on the skin of a nice part of the fat of the boobies of a sexy sweaty woman. Completely and disgustingly addicted.

I laughed, but not too loud, and I shivered, of a subtle insinuating kind of fear, and I am at the part when it is not far away from the ending, and I am slowing reading every words because not so many pages are left to discover how John will die, and I greatly suspect how is gonna happen.

So I am completely dreading the moment that it will end. I couldn’t wait to check on you and discover more about the author and see what else you ever made, so I would know that even at the end of the book, I will not wait 7 years as the last book of Fucking George R. R. Martin for the next sequel.

And there I discover this post. Timing perfectly with my desire of wanting it about with the news that you delivered let’s say less than 24 hours away.

It cannot be coincidence. You, me, how I found the book. There is something really out there that connect us all, in the most weirdly way.

I want your next book. I need your next book. There is no way that I can survive weeks after weeks before any delivering mail will ever arrive with a decent paid price before anything could happen to me. You know what. He knows as well. Send it there.

I need to buy your next book in the digital version. It would cost me a lot only to be sent by america, or even UK.

I will be very super happy to pay for a digital version (ebook .pub) that isn’t Kindle (I don’t own one, and I think that there are some copyrights selling limitations), if you can indicate me where I could find one more easy to reach to purchase it.

My email is easy to know. littlemad@gmail.com
Please write me before is too late.

    p.s. don’t send those pills.
p.p.s. trust me, hugs the next kid that you will cross

Thx to the new modern technologic solution I found a way by downloading an application from Amazon (that I didn’t know that existed) and I can read my digital books bought from Amazon directly over there.

    I am safe! I think…

p.s. thank you for the good writings

  6. smnoamls Says:

Hey, any chance you will release the digital edition to other eshops other than Amazon?
I got a nook here, and I live outside US, so amazon is out and B&N is out…
How about kobo man? Its a nice shop, very spacious, lots of…er…mb there to buy…

  7. andyflag Says:

This book was awesome, I pre-ordered it back in may and waited for this book to come out.
I could not put it down, and as a result finished the book in about 15 hours.
One of the best books I’ve read in such a long time.
Thank you very much. I’m looking forward to the release of the movie.

    Take care.

  8. Spizzy Says:

Finished the book. Messaged John about it, but I don’t know if he’ll get it. Have Sparngies been invented yet? I’ve forgotten so much.

Also, Dave, we haven’t met yet probably. But don’t worry. We won’t. See you tomorrow.

  9. ChaoticRaven Says:

    That book was GREAT!
My girlfriend bought the book and literally took a fucking week to read it. My reaction? This is how it went down:
“Oh, I have a schedule, so I couldn’t read it all at once.” My girlfriend said. I glared at her for a few moments trying to somehow will my contempt into physical form, which would then beat her savagely.
Oddly enough my imagination took the form of a banana with ridiculously sized hands.
In her defense, she did lend me the book without me having to hint or ask. ANYWAYS, great book.

  10. J_K91 Says:

The book was amazing. Everything I was hoping for and more. As soon as I finished it, I immediately started rereading the first one, finished it the next day and am currently working through Spiders again. Thank you for such an awesome read. I feel like buying several copies and distributing them to my friends.

  11. CodyLucas Says:

I just finished the book and I loved it. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie for John Dies At The End as well! I’m looking forward to your next book, I’m assuming there will be one. And if for some reason not, then the whole world may as well just be hit by every possible disaster, natural or man made, all at once. You are one of the greatest writers in my opinion. I’ve never read any book I’ve loved as much as the ones in the series you have created. I’m excited to see more of your works!
